Wyatt George

HLHS, Bi-directional Glenn

Wyatt

My beautiful grandson, Wyatt George was born on May 21st, 2003. He was diagnosed in utero with HLHS. Wyatt was born at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and then rushed right next door to CHOP, where he underwent his first open heart surgery, the Norwood, when he was 2 days old.

He was on an NG tube for the first 6 months of his life, but shortly after Wyatt underwent his 2nd open heart, the Glenn, (again at CHOP) at 6 months of age, he finally learned to suck and to swallow and now we can barely stop him from eating, he loves food so!

Wyatt now is thriving and doing so well, despite a long standing battle with ear infections and retained fluid in the ears. He will be returning to CHOP to have tubes placed in his ears, but we doubt that this condition is related to his heart.

As you can see by his photos, Wyatt is an absolutely adorable (if I may say so myself), chubby, beautiful and happy little boy! He is such a miracle and we are so blessed to have him join our family!

If you would like to learn more about Wyatt, or read his story, please visit his website that my daughter in-law and son have put together. There are lots more photos of my darling grandson (as well as my other two grand children) in the album pages. Please write me for the URL at <portraits@tchin.org>.
