HLHS, Complete Repair

Torre at 2!Torre was born on November 19, 1999 and diagnosed with HLHS. Desiring to have the surgeries performed without blood, although it had never been done before, we were directed to Dr. Galantowicz who was willing to try.

Dr. Galantowicz, assisted by Dr. Norwood, performed the Norwood Procedure on November 24, 1999. The first Norwood Procedure performed bloodless was completed successfully without complications.

Torre's next surgery, the Glen was performed a year later, again by Dr. Galantowicz, in Florida this time. Once again the procedure was successfully completed without the use of blood.

Finally in October of 2001 we went back to Florida for Torre's Fontan. Only this time due to preparations made by Dr. Galantowicz during Torre's Glenn, Dr. Cheatam, working with Dr. Galantowicz, successfully completed the first Fontan via catheter.

Torre is now doing great. He has no complications, no adverse side affects, nothing abnormal.
