Biography

I am the Pediatric Cardiac Coordinator for the Children's Regional Heart Program at the Children's Hospital in Austin, Texas. I am also the Coordinator for MILAGROS, our Cardiac Support Group for the families of children with heart defects.

I am married to Greg Howard and we have two boys: Daniel whose birthday is 9/26/87 and Ethan whose birthday is 12/3/93.

We love to go on camping trips and spend time with our families in Alabama, Texas and Colorado.

Interests

I work with the Pediatric Cardiologists and Pediatric Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons to help coordinate the children's cardiac procedures and their surgeries.

This means that I am able to work with the Day Surgery Department, the OR, the PICU, the NICU, the Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiology,... and the list goes on. I love having the opportunity to work with all these professional people who really do what to make a difference in the life of a child. I especially love the privilege of working with the children and their families. I truly receive so much from getting to know them, personally walking through the surgeries with them, and being involved in their care.

1982: I received my nursing degree and my RN license

1982-1988: I worked in the NICU at Denver Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado

1988-1990: I was the Pediatric Cardiac Nurse at Denver Children's Hospital

1990-1993: I was the charge nurse for Pediatrics/PICU at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock, Texas

1993-1997: I was the Pediatric Cardiovascular Nurse Coordinator at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center in Denver, Colorado

1997-1999: I was the NICU/Pediatric Nurse Educator for the Sharp HealthCare System in San Diego, California

2000-present: I am the Pediatric Cardiac Coordinator for the Children's Hospital in Austin, Texas
