Makayla Nicole

Supra-TAPVR and ASD

Makayla was diagnosed with supra-TAPVR, ASD, pneumonia, and R.S.V. at the age of 20 days. She appeared to be a normal healthy little baby up until a couple of days before she was diagnosed with these diseases. The first problem we noticed was she did not want to nurse or suck on her bottle. Then she started to vomit. Last, we noticed she made a gurgling noise and her breathing was restricted.

Makayla's parents and I had called the pediatrician to report all the issues we were noticing. We took her to two different hospitals in a matter of days, only to be told she was fine and appeared to be normal. The third day of this, her parents took her in to the pediatrician who then had Makayla medically transported back to the children's hospital to have a echocardiogram done. It was at that time our lives changed forever.

After she had surgery when 2-1/2 months old, she has been a miracle child without any more complications. Makayla recently celebrated her first birthday. Thank you Jesus! We love you Makayla. You are Grandma Debbie's inspiration and my "Fighting Kayla Girl." Daddy and mommy call you their " Little Soldier".

— Debra, Makayla's Grandmother, Michael & Amanda, Makayla's Parents (Phoenix, AZ)
