Landon Tyler

Tetralogy of Fallot

Landon

Landon was born on June 27, 2007 and was diagnosed with Pentalogy of Cantrell which includes Tetralogy of Fallot, Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, and an Omphalocele. Landon was given a less than 10% chance of survival after birth. His omphalocele and CDH was corrected first in his first 3 months of life and on September 27, 2007, he had open-heart surgery to correct the TOF. The surgery was a success and he was doing good.

He remained in the hospital trying to regulate his breathing and on Jan. 4, 2008, had a trach inserted surgically so that we could bring him home. On Jan. 6, 2008, he passed from complications from the trach.

He was truly our miracle child because there have been only 90 cases documented with Pentalogy of Cantrell and of those 90 the survival rate after birth was 0%. Landon is as far as we know the only case ever to have lived as long as he did. We had him for 6 short months and even though we never brought him home, the 6 months that we had him for was a miracle and a blessing to us from God.

— Becky, Landon's Aunt (Alabaster, AL)
