Kade Donald

HLHS

We found out our third child was going to be born with HLHS when I was 36 weeks pregnant. That was on June 14, 2008. Since then, our lives have not been the same.

I was induced with our third son when I was 38 weeks pregnant. Kade Donald entered this world looking perfectly healthy. It was so hard to tell he had HLHS. Honestly, at that point, I thought all the doctors had been wrong. Kade didn't have HLHS. How could he? He looked so perfect.

I was able to hold him for literally 3 minutes before he was whisked away. I made sure his daddy stayed with him the entire time he was in the NICU until I was able to go be with him again.

At 7 days old, Baby Kade had his first and only surgery. He later developed an infection which caused him to earn his angel wings on September 1, 2008 at 59 days old. He was surrounded by those that love him and a staff of doctors and nurses who will be forever in our hearts. In his short life, Baby Kade taught so many people the true meaning of strength and love. Even though we only had him a short time, the memories we have of him will be with us forever. Baby Kade will always be in our hearts...
