Josephine

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome; Glenn - 1/26/06

We found out about Josie's diagnosis when I was 24 weeks pregnant. Definitely not what we were expecting to hear. My pregnancy was pretty uneventful, other than that. Josie was born on September 16th, 2005, via c-section after a slow progressing labor. She was immediately taken away, intubated, and closely monitored. She had her first surgery, the Norwood, when two weeks old, and came home exactly three weeks after her surgery. She was very healthy overall and had her second surgery, the Glenn, at 4.5 months of age. We were so surprised when she came home five days after having this surgery.

It has been almost a year since her last surgery and she is doing amazingly well. She is 16 months old and into everything!  We go to the cardiologist every 3-4 months and we are expecting her next surgery, the Fontan, to take place sometime in September. Josie is a spunky little girl, full of energy and has such a great sense of humor!!
