Jamiee

Shone's Complex

Hello everyone, I am the proud mommy to Jamiee. Jamiee was born with a rare form of HLHS called Shone's Complex. Jamiee has had 4 open heart surgeries. She had her first three before she was 4 months old.

Jamiee had her first surgery in Sept. '07. She had the Ross- Konno. The Ross-Konno is where they take your diseased aortic valve out and replace it with your own pulmonary valve. They then put in a new valve to replace the pulmonary valve. Jamiee had a valve placed from an organ donor. They also had to close two holes that she had in her heart, and tightened her bicuspid valve.

Her second surgery was in Oct 2007 where they worked on her mitral valve. Then in November 2007, she had her mitral valve replaced with a mechanical valve.

Jamiee had her fourth OHS in November. 2009 to replace her mitral valve, pulmonary valve, and to tighten her bicuspid valve. Soon after returning home from this surgery she was rushed to the hospital. We found out that she had a spontaneous pulmonary bleed. We almost lost her. She was in the hospital three weeks, then returned home two days before Christmas.

Jamiee is a fighter. Her dad and I couldn't be any prouder of her. She has been through a lot in the last two and half years.

— StarLae, Jamiee's mother (Omaha, Ne)
