Evan

TGA, Pulmonary Stenosis; Rastelli with pacemaker

Evan is a twin, with a healthy brother Max. Evan was born with an ASD, VSD, pulmonary stenosis, and TGA.

Evan had his first surgery at 6 weeks when a B-T shunt was performed. He then had a Glenn shunt done at 2 years, which all was fine until he developed horrible gastric reflux post-op that continued to the point of a Nissen being done and total food aversion. Evan since has relearned how to eat and had his gastric tube removed.

At 4-1/2 yrs Evan had a Rastelli done. Three days later was taken back to the operating room for permanent pacemaker placement due to sick sinus syndrome.

Evan is now seven years old and we refer to him as the Energizer Bunny, the last to go to sleep and the first to wake up. We often joke that his cardiologist needs to turn him down a notch. I have been a nurse for a long time and I can truly say I have never met a person who loves every minute of being alive as much as Evan, and always has a smile, except when we are trying to get him to try a new food.

— Len & BJ, Evan's parents (Central California)
