Elijah Anderson

HLHS & aortic atresia

I'm pregnant and at my 20 week ultrasound, we were told that the tech couldn't get a good picture of the heart and that the baby may have a 2 chamber heart. My OB/GYN referred me to a maternal-fetal doctor. We went to the appointment and the doctor had a pediatric cardiologist come over to view the ultrasound as well. They both agreed and gave us the diagnosis of hypoplastic left heart syndrome and aortic atresia.

My due date is Oct. 21, 2008 and we've decided to deliver in Boston so our son can have his heart surgery at Children's Hospital Boston. I will deliver at Brigham Women's Hospital, which is just across the street. It's a long trip from home, but we wanted him to be at the best place there is.
