Avery

Cleft Mitral Valve with Mitral Valve Regurgitation, VSD (repaired)

Avery

When our beautiful daughter, Avery, was born in 2000 she was everything that we could have imagined and most importantly she was healthy and strong.

But as she grew older, we couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with her. We just didn't know what. She would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night vomiting for no apparent reason. There were also night sweats and headaches. But her doctor assured us that she was fine.

Our family moved to California in April of 2005. Avery had a new pediatrician and had started kindergarten. In October we noticed that she had some respiratory problems which were lingering and I decided to try another doctor. He took one listen to her heart and recommended that we see a cardiologist the next day. We were scared to death.

The cardiologist completed the echo and gave us the terrifying news that our daughter had Congenital Heart Disease. She is now scheduled for Open Heart Surgery on May 11, 2006. We must now turn everything over to God and know that he will guide and protect us.

Avery loves tennis, Barbie, my little pony, and most of all her Daddy!!!!

May 2006 Update

Avery's surgery was a success thanks to the wonderful team at Stanford.  She is home now and doing quite well.
